April 29, 2009. Beaverton, Oregon: e-on software, maker of Vue, the leading solutions for natural 3D environments, today disclosed the new features available in its upcoming professional solutions, Vue 7.5 xStream and Vue 7.5 Infinite.
Release 7.5 of Vue xStream and Infinite will add significant new functionality to Vue 7. Following the terms of e-on software’s maintenance contracts, users of Vue 7 xStream or Vue 7 Infinite who subscribed to a Standard or Premium maintenance plan will receive the upgrade to the corresponding Vue 7.5 product at no charge.
Users who are not under maintenance may nonetheless purchase the upgrade to Vue 7.5 (see further down for pricing). However, e-on software strongly recommends that they consider subscribing to a maintenance plan instead, as this may prove more cost effective* in the long term (maintenance plans include free upgrades to all .5 and full versions released during the subscription period).

NVIDIA just released a new and faster way of rendering with OpenGL, called Bindless Graphics. Bindless Graphics are changes to OpenGL that can enable close to an order of magnitude improvement in the CPU-limitedness of graphics applications. Recent improvements in programmability have focused on additional flexibility in shaders (expanding formats to include more float and integer types, better branching support, etc.) and enabling new features (geometry programs, transform feedback, etc), and while some of these allow offloading parts of certain workloads to the GPU, they don't directly attack the issues that dominate CPU time.
Bindless Graphics is enabled through two OpenGL extensions. NV_shader_buffer_load and NV_vertex_buffer_unified_memory
You can read the Bindless graphics tutorial for more detail.

Here’s another use for the Disintegration Tutorial techniques in a motion graphics example. I used a little bit of shine or a Radial Blur to create a lighting effect as it burns or blows away. You can even play around with the colors to create a magical burn away as well. This tutorial has a cool method for creating light beams if you’re interested.
Keep experimenting and have fun!
The font is called Avalon Quest!
UPDATE: Green screen footage uploaded for Disintegration Tutorial project.

The background paintings are beautiful and calming but the designs for the town and buildings are not as extravagant as those from Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. The set in The Cat Returns isn't just as magical.
It's recommended more for the must-own-it-all Studio Ghibli fans.

The much anticipated Star Wars MMO based around the Knights of the Old Republic timeline is still quite far from any type of release to the public. Being developed by BioWare’s new Austin studio, it’s so far from release that included in what we don’t know about it yet is its pricing.
“The way we look at these things is, ‘What’s the standard at the time?’ Obviously we’re not quite done yet. We’ve got a lot of work left to do. But we’ll be very conscious of how the market looks,” BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk told VG247.
The standard could be anything, in the West it could mean subscriptions, alluding to the popular World of Warcraft model but in parts of Asia the micro-transaction model for MMOs has really prospered. Regardless, it seems the pricing on The Old Republic won’t be too foreign.

Larry Fitzgerald, a wide receiver for the Cardinals, and Troy Polamalu, a safety for the Steelers, went head to head in last season’s Super Bowl and are both considered elite players at their respective positions.

3D movies, you may have noticed if you spent any time at all wandering around at NAB this week, are a pressure point for new filmmaking technology. That’s because stereoscopic movies have reached a sweet spot where they’re firing the imaginations of Hollywood creatives as well as studio accountants. Digital 3D is leagues beyond its counterpart technologies from the 1950s. Like Technicolor and talkies, it’s an innovation that opens new avenues in storytelling. So I feel like an old fuddy-duddy when I say that I’m getting a little sick of hearing about how it’s going to change the way we see movies.
