For the first time in Paris, major names in all disciplines of digital art, 2D, 3D, animation and VFX will gather in one place to share their knowledge and experiences.
Andrew Schmidt, a veteran artist at Pixar Animation, with more than 20 years’ experience, will exclusively unveil behind-the-scenes experiences at Pixar as an animator, as he shares his secrets to animating a character.
Raphaël Lacoste, art director for the licensed, Assassin's Creed at Ubisoft Montreal, will present behind the scenes look at one of the most popular games in the market and will relay stories of his artistic career starting from his studies in France, his development at major studios and his current position.
Marc Simonetti, described by G.R.R. Martin, as the artist who has best represented the Game of Thrones, is the illustrator of Terry Pratchett’s series: Discworld, and many other games. He will exhibit the art of composition and techniques of "Speed Painting".
The amateurs of special effects will also not be forgotten! The presence of Allan McKay will allow you to “travel” behind the scenes of some of the greatest blockbuster movies produced in Hollywood. With more than 20 years’ experience in visual effects and involvement in films such as Transformers and Star Trek, Allan has also collaborated in cinematics for God of War and Destiny.
It's Art also announced the showing of Mr. Hublot, the Oscar winning, best-animated short film for 2013, followed by a making-of presentation in the presence of its director, Laurent Witz.
Finally, in order to celebrate the recent progress in space exploration, Platige Image will present Ambition, a short film made in collaboration with ESA, starring Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones) and Aisling Franciosi (The Fall/Jimmy's Hall). The original version of the presentation will be followed by a master class on creating effects from this film and it will be done in the presence of Piotr Suchodolski, one of the artists in charge of special effects.
