Watch Sprite "Global Camouflage" from The Mill Visual Effects Studio in New York. Directed by Peter Thwaites, the commercial is a creative way to portray self expression and breaking out of the ordinary. Partnering with Gorgeous and BBH, the “Camouflage” campaign beautifully blends people into the cityscape using traditional paint and VFX wizardry by The Mill NY.
Inspired by the work of Chinese artist Liu Bolin, 22 actors were hand painted into the scenery by a team of body artists and painters that spent more than 1,200 man-hours and used approximately 500 pounds of paint. A great deal of care and attention to detail went into creating the hand painted feeling of the project. For the few scenes where individuals were not able to be fully painted into the scene, actors were painted a neutral grey and Mill NY 2D artists painstaking digitally “hand painted” these actors and blended them into their backgrounds.
No one wants to fade into the background and this painstakingly crafted, visually rich ad conveys this message across all language barriers.
